At the time of its video release, director Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 action movie Robocop was the most violent movie I had ever seen.  Originally given an X rating by the MPAA, I can remember watching it at a friend’s house in my old neighborhood, barely able to look at the TV screen during its most gruesome scenes.  The one that still stands out in my mind to this day is when Officer Alexander James Murphy’s (Peter Weller) body is torn apart by shotgun blasts before he is executed with a bullet to the head, compliments of crime boss Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith).   Despite the violence, this pivitol scene lays the groundwork for the rest of the film, as Officer Murphy’s body is used to create the super-human cyborg Robocop.  This I’d Buy That for a Dollar shirt features TV show host Bixby Snyder’s (S.D. Nemeth) memorable quote from the movie.  The name of Snyder’s show is never revealed, but Snyder, who is supposed to be a Benny Hill type character, is seen on a TV uttering the now famous Robocop quote.
