Description:
Have you ever watched a movie and wished that the house or store in it was real? Some scenery and props are done so well that they can leave us speechless. One of my favorites is The Shop Around The Corner Children’s Bookstore from the movie You’ve Got Mail. It reminds me of those quaint little stores that you walk into and can still smell the decades that have passed, but in a pleasant way. Pay homage to these quickly disappearing treasures with The Shop Around the Corner t-shirt displayed here.
You’ve Got Mail, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, was released in 1998 at the height of America Online’s popularity (also known as AOL). The movie tells the tale of two competing bookstore owners who unknowingly fall in love via e-mail. Kathleen Kelly is the owner of a little children’s bookstore called The Shop Around the Corner that is being put out of business by big discount bookstore Fox Books, owned by Joe Fox and his family.
At their first meeting, Joe discovers the dilemma before Kathleen sees him. He stands her up and decides to try to fix his image with her before revealing himself as Shopgirl’s dream guy, NY152. This You’ve Got Mail shirt is for those who wish that her business could have survived as part of the movie’s happy ending. There is always room for more good. Feel free to use this tee as a way to remind others to spread it around whenever they have the chance. :)
